Verlander Could Start For Tigers On Saturday

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Justin Verlander could rejoin the Detroit Tigers' rotation on Saturday.

Verlander has missed one start because of a sore right shoulder.

The right-hander threw for the second straight day Wednesday and said it's "strong to quite strong" that he will start one game of a doubleheader Saturday against Minnesota.

Verlander will throw a light bullpen Thursday. He is 10-11 with a 4.76 ERA in 25 starts this season.

Detroit manager Brad Ausmus said right-hander Bud Farmer will be called up from Triple-A Toledo to get a start in one of Saturday's games.
