UPS Driver Robbed Of Packages On Detroit's West Side

DETROIT (WWJ) - Christmas Scrooges strike early.

Police in Detroit are trying to find the suspects who robbed a UPS truck that was delivering packages on the city's west side.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. Thursday in the 17100 block of Stoepel, near Livernois Avenue and McNichols Road.

According to police, a 27-year-old UPS driver was making deliveries in the neighborhood when he was approached by two suspects, one with a gun, who ordered him into his truck.

The victim complied, police said, and then fled through another door on the truck and escaped unharmed.

A witness told police that the suspects stole packages from the truck and fled the scene on foot.

Police are now searching for the suspects and the missing packages.

The first suspect is described as a 16- to 18-year-old black male with a light complexion, 5'10" tall and 180 lbs. He was wearing a black skull-cap, a black bubble-style coat and dark pants. He was also armed.

The second suspect is described as a 16- to 18-year-old black male with a dark complexion, 180 to 190 lbs., wearing all black.
