SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Google and Twitter have teamed up to provide Tweets in search results in the Google app for iOS and Android, and in the mobile web.
Real-time results from Twitter were added to Google's search results Tuesday, and according to the companies, a desktop web version is coming shortly.
"It's a great way to get real-time info when something is happening," Ardan Arac, senior product manager, in a Google blog. "And it's another way for organizations and people on Twitter to reach a global audience at the most relevant moments."
Google users can use the standard search function to view Tweets about the search topic, or by hashtag, to bring up relevant news and Tweets about a subject.
Those using the service can then tap on a Tweet in the Google search results and be taken directly to Twitter to view the Tweet and discover additional content.
The feature is currently only available in the United States, and will come to more countries and languages in the coming months.
