Trooper Involved In Fatal Lower Northern Michigan Shooting

HIGHLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - State police say a trooper was involved in a fatal shooting in the northern Lower Peninsula.

First Lt. Lawrence Schloegl says the death grew out of an accident call in which an erratic driver may have hit a house about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Schloegl tells TV station WWTV  that it happened at an intersection in Osceola County's Highland Township. The site is about 15 miles south-southeast of Cadillac.

The lieutenant says the trooper arrived, "the situation escalated and ended up resulting in a shooting."

He says other details and the dead man's identity weren't immediately available.
