Driver Killed In Crash With Two Semi-Trucks On I-75

SOUTH ROCKWOOD (WWJ) - A fatal accident on I-75 near the border of Monroe and Wayne counties is caused an hours-long, multi-mile backup Friday morning.

The accident happened around 3 a.m. on northbound I-75 just north of South Huron River Drive, in South Rockwood.

Reporting live from the scene, WWJ's Mike Campbell said it appears the accident involves at least one passenger vehicle and two semi-trucks.

Other circumstances weren't immediately clear.

At least one person was killed and two other were hurt. Information on the victims have not yet been released.

Sources say alcohol might have been a factor in the accident.

The freeway was closed for several hours while police investigated but has since reopened.
