Trader Joe's Recalls Raw Walnuts Due To Possible Salmonella Contamination

DETROIT (CBS DETROIT) -  Trader Joe's is recalling its raw walnuts because the products may be contaminated with Salmonella, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Routine testing by an outside company contracted by the FDA showed the presence of Salmonella in certain packages of Trader Joe's Raw Walnuts.

If you think you've purchased raw walnuts which may be a part of this recall check the UPC and lot numbers [here].

If you have purchased the walnuts; do not eat them. You can return the walnuts to Trader Joe's for a refund or you can throw them away.

So far, no illnesses have been reported.
