Toddler Found Wandering Alone In Detroit Reunited With Family

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police say a toddler discovered wandering by himself, late Monday morning in Detroit, has been reunited with family members.

The small boy — estimated to be one or two years old — was spotted walking in the area of Dover and Rutland near Fitzpatrick at around 11 a.m.

A neighbor told police that a group of children were playing outside with the boy, then left him behind. He was dressed for the weather and unharmed.  The neighbor dropped him off at the local fire station and he was taken to the Detroit Police Department's 6th Precinct.

Police released a photo of the child hoping that someone in the public could identify him; and, according to reports, the boy's grandfather saw the photo on the news and went to pick him up.

The grandfather said he wasn't watching the boy on Monday and it was not immediately clear who was.

No charges have been filed as an investigation continues.  WWJ Newsradio 950 has a call out to police for more information.
