'Growing Pains' Actor Alan Thicke Dead At 69

DETROIT (CBS DETROIT/AP) - Actor and sitcom star Alan Thicke has died according to a statement from his publicist.

Thicke had a heart attack while he was playing hockey with his 19-year-old son, Carter, in Los Angeles, reports TMZ. He was transported to Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center around noon Tuesday and pronounced dead.

The Canadian-born Thicke was the host of game shows, talk shows and wrote the theme songs for several TV showing including "Diff'rent Strokes," "Wheel of Fortune" and the show he famously starred in in the '80s "Growing Pains," where he played the role of Jason Seaver.

Thicke is survived by his wife of 11 years, Tanya, and children Robin, Carter and Brennan.

Alan Thicke was 69.
