Tips Sought In Disappearance Of 19-Year-Old Macomb Township Man

MACOMB TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Family and friends were handing out fliers on Wednesday as the search continues for a 19-year-old man missing for almost a week.

Stephen Christopher McAfee was last seen leaving his home, on Walden Drive in Macomb Township, on Thursday, March 10 at around 2:30 a.m. — and all attempts to get a hold of him on his cell phone since have been unsuccessful.

McAfee does not have a car or a driver's license, so he is likely on foot or with someone else.  It is believed that he did not have any money or a debit/credit card on him at the time of his disappearance — and he didn't pack any clothes.

Concerned family members are asking the public to keep an eye out.

"It is extremely unlike Steve to be gone from home for more than a couple of hours and not have direct contact with his family or any personal belongings on him," his cousin, Jessica Carlson, said in an email.

McAfee is described as white male, around 6 feet, 1 inch tall and 140 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. Although he was clean-shaven when last seen, he has been known to wear facial hair at times (see photos).

Carlson said, because McAfee attended an arts high school with kids from all over metro Detroit, he has friends in communities all over the area.

Anyone who may have seen McAfee or who has information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Macomb County Sheriff's Office at 586-307-9412.
