Tigers Sign IF Casey McGehee From Triple-A Toledo, Demote Reliever Buck Farmer

DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Detroit Tigers made a roster move Saturday, sending relief pitcher Buck Farmer to Triple-A Toledo and purchasing the contract of infielder Casey McGehee.

McGehee has played seven seasons in the MLB for six different teams. He signed a minor league contract with the Tigers in February, played with the team during Spring Training and was later released only to sign another minor league deal with Toledo.

The Tigers designated outfielder Wynton Bernard for assignment to make room for McGehee on the team's 40-man roster.

In 66 games with the Mud Hens this season, McGehee batted .323 with four home runs and 27 RBIs with an .810 OPS. He played 56 games at third base.

Farmer appeared in nine games for the Tigers, posting a 2.70 ERA in 13 1/3 innings pitched.
