Over 207K DTE Energy customers without power after storms in southeast Michigan
(CBS DETROIT) - Thousands of DTE Energy customers are without power following the storms that moved through southeast Michigan overnight.
As of 6:35 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25, there are 207,156 customers without power, according to DTE Energy's website. Storms continued Thursday night with multiple weather warnings and watches issued by the National Weather Service.
DTE Energy officials say 80% of customers should have their power restored on Saturday, with all of the outages restored by the end of day on Sunday.
"Our crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore power to everyone impacted," said DTE Energy officials. "We estimate that 80% of customers affected by the storm will be restored on Saturday, with all storm outages restored by end of day Sunday. We know how challenging it is to be without power, and we have added crews from outside our area to expedite repairs."
In addition, officials warn residents to stay at least 25 feet away from downed power lines.
