Thousands Remain Without Power After 2 Days Of Storms
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - A second wave of thunderstorms moved across metro Detroit Wednesday, knocking out power to more than 50,000 homes and businesses.
DTE Energy said those outages were down to around 28,000 early Thursday morning. Most customers are expected to have power restored by the end of the day.

Wednesday's storms knocked down trees and power lines and flooded roads, including a popular section of M-10 in Southfield that was shut down for hours after a storm water pump failed, leaving at least a foot of standing water on the freeway. Wind gusts near 70 miles an hour were reported in Adrian, and funnel clouds were sighted at 9 Mile Road and Jefferson Avenue, as well as near 8 Mile and Schoenherr roads.
The storms came less than 24 hours after metro Detroit was hit with torrential downpours during a loud thunderstorm overnight Tuesday.
CBS 62 Chief Meteorologist Jim Madaus said the severe weather is over for now, adding that metro Detroit can expect near-normal temperatures and partly sunny skies on Thursday.
"We're looking at readings in the upper 70s and low 80s," he said. "The radar is showing some cloud cover and as we go throughout the day, there's some breaks in the overcast and some sunshine. This evening we'll have clear skies here in Detroit."
