Palace Of Auburn Hills Evacuated Due To A Suspicious Package

AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - Employees were on high alert as a suspicious package caused an evacuation of the Palace of Auburn Hills on Monday.

Auburn Hills Police and Fire departments responded around 11 a.m. on Monday and evacuated the building as a precaution.

Michigan State Police Bomb Squad and Oakland County Sheriffs Department K-9 units were also involved in the investigation.

As the building was being evacuated, a contractor claimed the package. The package was determined to be a homemade battery charger and the building quickly resumed normal operations.

"This is a good example for someone seeing something and saying something about something that was suspicious/out-of-place," Palace officials said in a press release.

There will be no criminal charges.
