The gift of music. Detroit Symphony Orchestra celebrates the holiday season
(CBS DETROIT) - 'Tis the season for gift giving, so why not consider giving the gift of music?
The Detroit Symphony Orchestra is hosting several events over the holiday.
Besides traditional holiday musical performances, the DSO is also hosting movie nights. Holiday films like "Home Alone" and "Elf" will be shown on the big screen with a full orchestra bringing the cinema music to life. It's an experience that organizers say is a gift for the whole family.
"There really is no experience like hearing the score performed live by a full Orchestra," said Charles Buchanan, senior marketing director with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. "Anytime an audience member does it for the first time, it's always a magical experience."
"It's usually orchestrated in such a way that it sometimes adds a little something that wasn't even there in the actual film. So it really is the full experience."
