Teen Struck, Killed By Pontiac-Bound Amtrak Train

GALESBURG, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 16-year-old boy has died after being struck by a passenger train in southwestern Michigan.

TV stations WWMT, WXMI and WOOD report that the Wolverine Line Amtrak train was heading from Chicago to Pontiac on Monday night at the time of the collision in Galesburg, about 50 miles southeast of Grand Rapids.

Amtrak says 205 people were on the train.

No one aboard the train was injured.

Galesburg police didn't immediately release the name of the teenager and say he was walking a bike across the tracks when he was struck. The train was stopped on the tracks until a medical examiner could get to the scene and police could investigate.
