Ted Cruz Fails To Endorse Trump, VP Nominee Talks Message Of Unity
DETROIT (WWJ) - Taking in the third night of the Republican National Convention in the Newsradio 950 studios was the chairman of the political science department at Oakland University Professor Dave Dulio.
Dulio's reaction to GOP vice presidential candidate's message Wedneday night?
"It was a way for Mike Pence to introduce himself," said Dulio. "He talked about his roots, he talked about his family, he talked about his background and he also did what he needed to do to give the Republican base what they want - which is a message of unity and a message of 'let's all work together to beat Hillary' and elect Donald Trump."
Earlier in the evening, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich sought to repair a rift when Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who also addressed the crowd, failed to formally endorse Donald Trump -- suggesting instead, people vote their "conscience,"
"Don't stay home in November," Cruz said toward the end of his otherwise very well-received speech. "Stand and speak and vote your conscience."
