Young Men Who Ditched Car After Fatal Motorcycle Crash Taken Into Custody [VIDEO]
WARREN (WWJ) - Authorities have arrested two young men who allegedly fled the scene of a deadly accident involving a motorcycle along the Detroit-Warren border.
The accident happened around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at 8 Mile Road and Groesbeck Highway.
It appears the motorcycle was traveling westbound on 8 Mile Road when it was struck by a sedan. Following the collision, two young men exited the sedan and fled on foot. About an hour later, patrol officers eventually found the men about a mile away, on 7 Mile Road, and they were taken into custody without further incident.
The motorcyclist was declared dead the scene. Their identity has not yet been released.
Reporting live from the scene, WWJ's Charlie Langton said a damaged motorcycle was in lying in the driveway of the Wendy's restaurant and a smashed up sedan was on 8 Mile Road, facing the wrong direction.
Westbound 8 Mile Road and southbound Groesbeck remain closed as police investigate the scene.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
