Suspect In Fatal Shooting Of Royal Oak Woman Due In Court Wednesday

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - A Royal Oak man claims an intruder murdered his girlfriend — but police do not believe that is the case.

The live-in boyfriend and only suspect in the fatal shooting of a Royal Oak woman is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment Wednesday. He was questioned by police after he was arrested early Monday morning for illegal possession of a firearm.

Police said the 48-year-old man told them that an intruder broke in and killed 50-year old Theresa Diamos, who was found dead in her home on N. Altadena after neighbors heard gunfire at around 3 a.m.

An investigation revealed that there was no break in, according to police.

Police said the man, who is a convicted felon, has not been charged in Diamos' death. His name is being withheld until his arraignment on the gun charge.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting or may have any information about this crime is asked to call Royal Oak Police Sgt. Don Swiatkowski at 248-246-3528.
