Suspect in fatal Roseville stabbing in custody
ROSEVILLE, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) - A suspect in a fatal stabbing at a Belle Tire on Gratiot Avenue is in custody.
The suspect was arrested by Warren police around 12 p.m. Wednesday during a traffic stop in the area of Van Dyke and Cadillac.
The suspect and the suspect's vehicle were both turned over to Roseville police.
According to Roseville police, a woman was filling her tires with air at the parking lot of a Belle Tire at 32700 Gratiot Avenue around 6 a.m. Wednesday when she was attacked and fatally stabbed by a man described by police as a white male.
Upon arriving on the scene, police found the victim unresponsive with several stab wounds to her body.
A second assault was later reported in St. Clair Shores in the area of 12 Mile and Harper. It is believed that the suspect in the fatal Roseville stabbing is also responsible for the St. Clair Shores attack.
"This arrest shows the outstanding awareness of members of the Warren Police Department," said Warren Police Chief in a statement. "Thanks to the quick actions of our officers, this suspect was located and taken into custody safely without incident. Our officers are always on the lookout for suspects wanted in connection to crimes in Warren and surrounding jurisdictions, particularly those involving violent crimes. The Warren Police Department is always proud to assist other agencies in locating and arresting violent crime suspects."
