MUSKEGON HEIGHTS (CBS DETROIT/AP) — Police are searching for a man believed to have shot a western Michigan officer remains at large.
Muskegon Heights Police Chief Joseph Thomas says the officer was shot in the arm around 4 p.m. Saturday while trying to locate a person involved in an earlier shooting. Thomas says the officer located the suspect, who then fired at the officer, striking him in the arm.
Thomas said the officer, who hasn't been identified, underwent surgery and was in good spirits.
Shortly after that shooting, police surrounded a house and demanded the suspect surrender. But after more than 14 hours of waiting, officers discovered Sunday the suspect wasn't inside the house.
