Susan Sollins, Producer, Director, ArtPrize Juror, Dies

DETROIT (WWJ) - A juror who led this year's ArtPrize panel has died. Susan Sollins, the executive director of Art21, died on October 13, just days after the ArtPrize 2014 Awards Ceremony was held.

Her cause of death hasn't been announced.

Sollins led the three-person panel that divided the $200,000 ArtPrize Grand Juried Prize into two awards.

An obituary in the New York Times noted that at the time of her death, Susan was the Executive Director of ART21, Inc., and Producer, Director, and Curator of the groundbreaking Peabody Award-winning documentary television series, Art in the Twenty-First Century, broadcast nationwide on PBS and now in its seventh season.

Her feature-length film, William Kentridge: Anything is Possible, also received a Peabody Award.

A memorial gathering is planned but no details regarding the arrangements have been released.
