Sterling Heights High School Student Arrested, Charged For Shooting Threat

MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - A Sterling Heights High School student has been arrested for allegedly threatening to shoot other teens.

Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith on Thursday charged 18-year-old Brendan Boucher of Warren with making a false report or threat of terrorism, which is a felony, and possessing a weapon in a weapon-free school zone.

According to police, Boucher approached a fellow student during class and threatened to kill him saying: "One day I'm going to come up behind you when you're not knowing [sic] and shoot you in the back of your head."

Boucher had also previously stated that he "was going to make Columbine look like a joke," and that he planned to "take an AR out of my backpack," police said.

No one was injured. An investigation is ongoing.

"The safety and security of our students has to be our first concern," Smith said, in a statement.  "Students and administrators took these threats seriously. So does my office."

"Our schools must be free of violence and threats of violence," he added. "In this day and age, we are compelled take a zero-tolerance stance on this."

Boucher was arraigned Thursday afternoon in 41A-3 District Court in Sterling Heights.
