Stephen Horgan To Throw Out First Pitch For Pawtucket Red Sox

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) — The Pawtucket Red Sox are kicking off the 2014 season at McCoy Stadium with fanfare and special guests.

Thursday night's home opener for the Boston Red Sox Triple-A affiliate against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs begins with pre-game festivities starting at 6 p.m. They include a presentation of police and fire honor guards from around southeastern New England.

Boston police officer Stephen Horgan, the so-called Boston bullpen cop, is scheduled to throw put the first pitch. Horgan was captured in a photo throwing both arms into the air when designated hitter David Ortiz hit a grand slam during Game 2 of the American League Championship Series, and an outfielder for the Detroit Tigers tumbled into the bullpen after failing to catch it.
