CBS DETROIT - Look at the statistics, and the completion percentage of Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford shows decline over the past two seasons. Look at this video -- in which Stafford swishes a football through a hoop from the opposite end of a basketball court -- and the quarterback looks pretty darn accurate.
Granted, the basket presents a stationary target, and there are no big, nasty defenders trying to pummel Stafford into the ground as he throws the ball, but it still impressed his girlfriend, who posted the video on Instagram.
Stafford has gotten several new teammates in the past 48 hours or so, most notably wide receiver Golden Tate, formerly of the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. If Stafford can hit Tate and superstar wide receiver Calvin Johnson as perfectly as he hit the basket in the video, the Detroit offense should be in business.
