Lockdown Lifted At South Lake High School In St. Clair Shores Following Threat

ST. CLAIR SHORES (WWJ) - Officials say a lockdown at South Lake High School in St. Clair Shores is over.

Officials with the South Lake School District said the building was placed on lockdown early Friday morning after someone phoned in a threat to the school.

Once the threat was received, administrators locked down the school as St. Clair Shores police worked to determine if the threat was credible. When police gave the "all clear," the lockdown was lifted.

Officials said parents of students were notified of the lockdown as the situation unfolded, although no specific details were provided at the time.

The principal is now planning to hold an assembly with the student body to talk about the seriousness of making threats and how it can lead to criminal charges.

The school is located on 9 Mile Road between Harper and Greater Mack avenues.
