Sinai-Grace Hospital Cuts Ribbon On New ER

DETROIT (WWJ) - The Detroit Medical Center has unveiled a big addition to one of its hospitals.

After two years of construction and $77 million spent, DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital is opening the door to its new emergency department.

The 59,000-square-foot space more than doubles the size of the old ER.

Sinai-Grace President Dr.Reginald Eadie says the expansion was long overdue.

"It's something that the community greatly needs," Eadie told WWJ Health Reporter Sean Lee. "And so we had an emergency department that was designed to see less than 50,000 people a year, for example, and we're seeing over 100,000, and have been for several years."

The community is invited to get its first look at the new Sinai-Grace Emergency Department on Saturday, Feb. 1, during an open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Radio Disney will be there for the kids, and there'll be free health screenings too.

DMC  Sinai-Grace  is located at 6071 W. Outer Dr. in Detroit.
