Shooter At Large After Motorists Exchange Gunfire In Royal Oak Township
ROYAL OAK TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Police are looking for a man who shot into a car, injuring another man Monday morning in Royal Oak Township.
According to Michigan State Police First Lt. Mike Shaw, the two men — both in vehicles — exchanged gunfire at around 7:45 a.m while driving on Cloverdale at Glen Lodge, near 8 Mile Road.
Multiple shots were fired, said Shaw, and one of the men, who was struck in the ankle, was able to drive himself to a gas station where he sought help.
"The individual flagged down one of our patrol cars and told him that he had been shot," Shaw told WWJ Newsradio 950's Charlie Langton. "That individual was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries."
Shaw added that the injured man has, thus far, been uncooperative with investigators — which leads them to believe this was likely not a random shooting.
There was no description available of the other shooter, who remained at large later Monday Police were interviewing witnesses as an investigation continues.
Nearby Tri County Community Elementary School was on lockdown early Monday as a result of the incident.
