Search For Tips In Jogger's Shooting Death Continues
ROSE TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- Police continue to investigate the murder of a jogger in Oakland County's Rose Township.
Michigan State Police First Lieutenant Michael Shaw says while they've received numerous tips, they haven't gotten any information on a light-colored sedan seen speeding down the same road where 31-year-old Alexandra Brueger was found shot in July.
"We've never had anybody that came forward and say they were the person that was driving that vehicle down Fish Lake Road or had somebody call up and identify somebody that might have been driving down that road, which for us is kind of strange," Shaw told WWJ Newsradio 950.
Shaw said that 99 percent of the time, an innocent driver or someone who saw the car will come forward when a tip like that is made public. Police had said they initially received a great deal of support from the public, but they're still missing that vital piece of information that could lead them to Brueger's killer.
Brueger, a a 31-year-old nurse who regularly went for 10-mile runs, was killed July 30 around 2 p.m. in the vicinity of 11240 Fish Lake Road in Holly. Investigators say she collapsed on a resident's front lawn and died after being shot in the back.
"We are asking for information related to the person responsible for this incident or those who might have knowledge of the individual responsible for this tragic incident," said Shaw. "Information about suspicious persons or unusual vehicles in the area of Fish Lake Road could be extremely important."
Police say the suspect is likely exhibiting some noticeable behavior changes. Some of the possible changes include:
• Acting oddly or out of their normal character since this incident happened.
• Showing signs of internal distress, such as anxiety, nervousness, or irritability.
• An unexplained or stress induced illness.
• An above average interest in this incident since it has occurred.
• Has become more reclusive and anti-social.
• Has not shown up for work or missed regularly attended gatherings or meetings.
• Has unexpectedly changed their appearance.
• No longer utilizes one of their vehicles or has excessively cleaned the interior/exterior of their vehicle.
• Has started or increased a consumption of cigarettes, alcohol and/or drugs.
• Unexpected and last-minute travel or departed the area without giving a specific reason and/or destination location.
"We believe that someone may recognize some of these behavioral changes," said Shaw. "If you do, we ask that you contact us. Regardless of how insignificant you think your information might be, or whether you think we are already aware of it, we want to hear from you."
Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 248-584-5740, call the Michigan State Police Tip Line at 855-MICH_TIP, or submit a tip anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
There is a $7,000 reward in the case.
