Road Commission Busy Repairing Mailboxes Damaged By County Road Trucks
PONTIAC (WWJ) - They clear up the snowy and icy roads, fix potholes -- but the Road Commission for Oakland County also repairs residents' mailboxes that they may have knocked down with their plows.
Spokesman Craig Bryson says when it snows, they try to push the white stuff back as close to the mailboxes as they can so that the post office can deliver mail.
"Sometimes that's happening at night when there are very large snow drifts and it's difficult to see the mailboxes, even sometimes during the day when there's a lot of snow. And inevitably, unintentionally, accidentally knock down some of those mailboxes, and when we do that, we will replace them, and we'll go out and put a new post and mailbox in as soon as we can.
