Man Killed At Cedar Point After Being Struck By Raptor Roller Coaster

SANDUSKY, Ohio (WWJ/AP) - A man reportedly looking for a lost cellphone was killed after being struck by a roller coaster at an amusement park in Ohio.

According to the Cedar Point amusement park management, a man entered a restricted area to look for a lost cellphone and was struck and killed by a the Raptor roller coaster.

The official Twitter account of Cedar Point confirmed the death of the man in his 40s.

A tweet from @CedarPoint says that "5 pm, a guest entered a restricted, fenced area of Raptor and was struck by the ride. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family."

"Park Safety officials responded immediately to the situation. Unfortunately, the guest passed away. Local authorities are on the scene conducting an investigation," according to the tweet.

Cedar Point's website says the Raptor travels at speeds up to 57 mph.

No other information about the person who died was immediately released.
