Elderly Detroit Man Shoots At Plumbers Working In Home

DETROIT (WWJ) - An elderly Detroit man could be facing charges after he opened fire on plumbers working at his west side home.

The situation unfolded Monday night at a home on Hubbell Avenue just north of Fenkell Avenue.

Plumbers had been at the home nearly all day, according to reports, working on a storm drain in the basement.

According to police, the 82-year-old homeowner apparently grabbed a shotgun at some point and fired at least one round at the workers, attempting to force them out of his home.

The workers were able to escape the home safely and call 911.

Police arrived on the scene and diffused the situation. The man was taken into custody without further incident, and transported to a local hospital for a psychological evaluation.

No injuries were reported.
