Report: Tigers Will Rotate Martinez, Cabrera At DH For Remainder Of Season
CBS DETROIT - For the rest of the season, Miguel Cabrera will not be the everyday first baseman for the Detroit Tigers, according to MLive.
With Cabrera dealing with an ankle injury, Tigers manager Brad Ausmus announced Thursday that the team will rotate Cabrera and usual designated hitter Victor Martinez at first base.
Ausmus said earlier in the month that taking Cabrera out of the field would be an option, though not one the team would want to exercise on a daily basis. Usual designated hitter Victor Martinez can also play first, so the plan is to rotate between the two.
The worsening of Cabrera's injury comes at a difficult time, with less than a month remaining in the season and Detroit battling to retake the American League Central Division lead from the Kansas City Royals. The Tigers and Royals start a three-game series Monday.
