Report: Tigers Talking With Rangers About Reliever Joakim Soria

CBS DETROIT - As the second half of the baseball season looms, the Detroit Tigers are reportedly in the mix for Texas Rangers reliever Joakim Soria, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network. Soria has a 2.76 ERA through 31 games this season.

In 26 of those 31 outings Soria has held opponents scoreless.

Morosi tweeted that the Los Angeles Angels and Toronto Blue Jays have also expressed interest in Soria.

Detroit's bullpen has an ERA of 4.32, which ranks 27th in baseball. The group has looked better recently, with an ERA of 0.83 over the tiny sample size of the last eight games.

Despite the offseason acquisition of longtime steady relievers like Joe Nathan and Joba Chamberlain, the bullpen has looked shaky at times this season, and the Tigers are most likely eager to avoid a repeat of last season, when poor performances by relievers contributed to Detroit's earlier-than-desired exit from the postseason.
