Tigers, Iglesias Agree To $2.1 Million Deal, Avoiding Arbitration
DETROIT (CBS Detroit) -- The Detroit Tigers announced Friday that the club has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with infielder Jose Iglesias, thus avoiding arbitration.
According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the deal is worth $2.1 million.
Iglesias, 26, hit .300 with 44 runs scored, 17 doubles, three triples, two home runs and 23 RBI in 120 games with the Tigers in 2015. Iglesias hit .314 with 19 runs scored, eight doubles, two triples, one home run and 15 RBI in the first half of the season to earn a spot on the American League All-Star Team for the first time in his career.
In four seasons at the major league level with Boston (2011-13) and Detroit (2013, 2015), Iglesias has a .287 career batting average with 91 runs scored, 35 doubles, five triples, six home runs and 54 RBI in 264 games.
