Report: Shanahan, Devereaux Will Play In Outdoor Alumni Game Vs. Avalanche
DETROIT (CBS Detroit) -- An already star-studded lineup of former players ready to take the ice in Denver on Feb. 26 just gained two more former Detroit Red Wings.
According to Bill Roose, Brendan Shanahan and Boyd Devereaux will suit up for the Wings' alumni team on Friday at Coors Field against once-heated rivals, the Colorado Avalanche.
Shanahan, 47, played nine seasons in Detroit, winning Stanley Cups in 1997, 1998 and 2002. He was the NHL's Senior Vice President from 2011 to 2014 and is now the president of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Devereaux played four seasons with the Red Wings, including in 2002 when he tallied a career-high nine goals.
The present-day Red Wings will face off with the Avalanche the following day on Feb. 27.
