CBS DETROIT - After missing nearly half the season and then scoring three goals in five playoff games for the Detroit Red Wings, star Pavel Datysuk could soon undergo knee surgery, according to MLive.

"It has to be determined whether four months off and a commitment to the gym will give him the power and the quickness we're used to," general manager Ken Holland told MLive. "It's between the doctor and Pav. A lot depends on what Pav wants to do. He doesn't seem to feel he has the power.

"There's a question if there's dead tissue in there," Holland continued. "They take the dead tissue out and get the blood flowing in the ligament."

Datsyuk played just one game in January, four games in February and no games in March. He returned in April and contributed four points - two goals and two assists - in the final six games of the regular season. In the playoffs, Datsyuk was the team's most productive player, leading the team with five points in five postseason games.

None of Datsyuk's teammates had more than two points in the playoffs. Datysuk was one of just two players to have a positive plus-minus rating in the team's first-round series against the Boston Bruins. He and Henrik Zetterberg, another Red Wings star who played just 45 games because of injury, both recorded ratings of 1.
