The Pistons have a chance to bolster their lineup Thursday with the 18th pick in the NBA Draft.
In my opinion the two things the Pistons need to do this offseason are get a backup point guard and a good power forward to pair up with their franchise player Andre Drummond.
The Pistons could solve both of these problems in a matter of weeks. According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Pistons "are among the teams that intend to make a run at Atlanta big man Al Horford."
Horford would really be a nice addition to play alongside Drummond. Horford can shoot from 15 feet and in and has been named the All-Star team four times since being drafted out of Florida.
Last season he averaged 15.2 ppg and 7.3 rpg. The 30-year-old, 6 foot, 10 inch tall player who has predominantly played center during his nine-year career would fit in nicely with what the Pistons are trying to do.
Horford's best season was the 2012-13 season when he averaged a double-double, 17.4 ppg and 10.2 rpg. For his career he has a .535 field goal percentage and shoots free throws at .743 percent. It would be good to see for Drummond, who had a career low .355 free throw percentage last season.
Teams can start signing free agents July 1.
