CBS DETROIT - Holding onto restricted free agent forward Greg Monroe may be an expensive endeavor for the Detroit Pistons, according to ESPN's Marc Stein, who tweeted Tuesday that Monroe has drawn interest from at least four other teams.

A week before free agency opened Tuesday, Pistons team president and head coach Stan Van Gundy said he had spent well over half his time in Detroit on research and discussion about what to do with Monroe. At that time, Van Gundy said he and his staff had decided at what price points they would pay to keep Monroe and, presumably, at what price points they would not.

Stein reports that teams will likely push Detroit close to - if not over - its tipping point.

Monroe, a four-year veteran, averaged 15.2 points and 9.3 rebounds for the Pistons last season.

Van Gundy has said that the Pistons value Monroe highly, so they want to either keep him in the fold or get something for him when he leaves. If Detroit does not want to match the highest offer Monroe receives, the likely scenario would be a sign-and-trade.
