Less than a month after losing Martin Frk, the Red Wings have re-acquired him.

Detroit claimed the 23-year-old forward off waivers on Tuesday afternoon after the Carolina Hurricanes released him. The Wings originally placed Frk on waivers on Oct. 8 in order to trim their roster ahead of opening night.

Frk appeared in just two games for the Hurricanes this season, finishing with zero points and a minus-3 rating. He will report to the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins, as the Wings were the only team to submit a claim for him.

Detroit's second-round draft pick in 2012, Frk has shown scoring ability at lower professional levels. He scored 23 goals in 2014-15 for the ECHL Toledo Walleye and 27 goals last season for the Griffins. He has yet to appear in a game for the Wings.

If injuries thin Detroit's forward ranks - Thomas Vanek is already sidelined for at least the next week - Frk would be a viable call-up option.
