Jimmy Howard's 'Bobble Head' Stolen From Statue In Detroit [PHOTO]

Update 11 a.m.: A suspect is in custody in connection with the theft. More here.

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - Someone apparently has an axe to grind with Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard.

There are several life-sized bobblehead statues around the city, featuring our beloved sports stars.

Jimmy Howard's statue is located in Campus Martius, and it seems he was beheaded early Thursday morning.

Here's what the statue used to look like:

Police are investigating the theft and are reviewing surveillance camera footage from the area.

According to reports by WJBK, police believe a group of five white males who posed for pictures with Howard's statue might be to blame. Investigators think the group removed the head, tossed it in the backseat of a dark-colored Chevy Malibu and drove away.

Another theory floating around is perhaps a serial decapitator is on the loose -- heartbroken over the Wings loss in the first round of the playoffs. According to 97.1 The Ticket fan Kurtis Adum, Pavel Datsuyk's statue received the same treatment about a week ago.
