Record Month For Snow, With More On The Way Leaves Salt In Short Supply

FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - We have a winter weather advisory in southeast Michigan until midnight tonight and the snow is falling with several inches of snow expected.

WWJ's Beth Fisher reports that with the record snowfall in January, it's causing a shortage of salt.

Places like Angelo's Supplies in Farmington Hills and Wixom is having trouble keeping salt on the shelves as are many other stores. Angelo's manager Skully Tuning says they've been very busy.

"Salt is a very tough thing to come by right now, there's other states that normally don't get snow and they are getting it," he said.

Tuning says they're okay with their bulk salt ... but says what they really need is a two to three-week snow break so then maybe the salt companies could get caught up.

Unfortunately, we don't see that happening anytime soon.
