President Obama To Speak At U-M On Wednesday

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - The University of Michigan student body will be treated to a visit from the Commander-in-Chief this Wednesday.

President Barack Obama will be making a appearance at U of M; and according to University Spokesman Rick Fitzgerald, the focus will be on a issue that has become controversial in recent months.

"What we know is that he is going to address his proposal for an increase in minimum wage, and that's the extent of what know at this point," Fitzgerald told WWJ.

Fitzgerald pointed out this isn't the first time President Obama has made a appearance at the Ann Arbor campus.

"The President has been here twice before," Fitzgerald said. "I think Michigan is a key state in the economic recovery in our region, and we're just honored to have him here to talk about important economic matters."

The even will be restricted to U-M students only and, Fitzgerald said, those attending are encouraged to arrive early.

"Well there is always a little extra security when the President's involved," he said. "Students will have to be in the facility by a certain amount of time, in order to make sure everything is safe and secure for the President's arrival."

The event is set to take place inside the Intramural Sports Building. Tickets can be purchased with a student ID on Tuesday at the student union on a first come, first serve basis.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Jon Hewett will be there. Stay turned for coverage of the President's visit.
