The New York Mets and the Kansas City Royals are set to face off in the 111th World Series starting on Tuesday. But who should baseball fans in Detroit root for?
The Mets have two former Detroit Tigers playing vital roles in their postseason success so far in Curtis Granderson and Yoenis Cespedes.
Granderson is batting .303 with seven RBIs in nine playoff games so far this season, and had an impactful steal of third base in Game 2 against the Chicago Cubs. Cespedes is battling some injuries, but remains in the lineup for the Mets. He's been a sparkplug for New York ever since the Tigers traded him there at the trade deadline (.287 average with 17 home runs and 44 RBIs in 57 games).
The Royals have been the Tigers' nemesis for the past few seasons, stealing control of the American League Central Division from Detroit this season. The Royals lost to the San Fransisco Giants and the buzzsaw that was Madison Bumgarner in last year's World Series, but may have fate on their side this year...
