Police: Woman, Kids At Home When 2 Armed Men Break Down Door
FRENCHTOWN TWP. (WWJ) - Police in Monroe County say two men have been arrested in connection with a frightening home invasion that happened in the middle of the night.
The incident happened around 5:35 a.m. Friday at a home in the 8400 block of Mimi Street, in the Frenchtown Villa mobile home community along Telegraph Road just south of Newport Road.
A woman told police she was at the home with her young children when two men kicked in the front door and forced their way inside. One of the men, who was armed with a handgun, demanded to speak with another resident who was not home at the time, according to police.
When the suspects realized the person they were looking for wasn't there, they fled the scene. No one was injured.
Police say the woman was able to identify both suspects, as she had known them from prior encounters.
"Members of the Monroe County Sheriffs Office Detective Bureau followed up on several leads throughout the day and learned that the subjects involved were at a Kingsbrooke Drive address in Frenchtown Township," Sheriff Dale Malone said in a statement.
Around 3 p.m. Friday, police executed a search warrant at an address on Kingsbrooke Drive where a 20-year-old man and 27-year-old man were taken into custody. While at the home, police also found "several stolen firearms and narcotics" that were seized.
The suspects' identities are being withheld pending arraignment.
