Police: Western Michigan Car Fire Started To Cover Up Murder

GRAND RAPIDS (AP) — Authorities in western Michigan are investigating a homicide that a man tried to cover up by setting the body of a 37-year-old woman and a car on fire.

Ottawa County sheriff's deputies found the body inside the burning car about 3:30 a.m. Monday along Interstate 96, northwest of Grand Rapids.

A 45-year-old man walking in the area was arrested and eventually told investigators he and the victim argued earlier in Grand Rapids before the slaying. The body was then driven to Ottawa County where the fire was started.

The names of the victim and suspect were not immediately released.
