Police Seek Hit-And-Run Driver Who Struck Pedestrian In Livonia

LIVONIA (WWJ) - Michigan State Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck and injured a man who was putting gas in his car along I-275 in Livonia.

Investigators say the victim had parked his 1996 Oldsmobie on the right shoulder of the freeway, near M-14, shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday and was on foot filling up when he was hit by a white Ford F-150, which was traveling southbound on I-275.

The pickup driver fled the scene, according to police, and the truck was later located in a parking lot near a CVS pharmacy at Ann Arbor Road and Haggerty.

Police said the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

An MSP K-9 track and search team was unable to find the suspect.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who knows the driver of a white F-150 that may have been in the area at that time is asked to call the Michigan State Police Metro Post at 248-584-5740.
