Police Seek Help Finding Thieving Couple In Troy Area
TROY (WWJ) -- Troy Police are seeking the assistance of the public to identify two people thought to be taking wallets from purses at various locations throughout Michigan -- including the Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids and Holland areas.
One Troy victim reported her wallet stolen from her purse while shopping at Kohl's in Troy. The victim stated that a black male approached her and began to distract her by asking questions pertaining to his grandmother. While the victim was being distracted by the black male subject, a black female subject stole the victim's wallet from her purse.
Immediately after the theft, the suspects used the victim's credit cards to purchase gift cards at various merchants including Target and Best Buy, using them to purchase computers and other electronic devices.
A police investigation has revealed the couple was on a "crime spree" throughout Michigan between July 5 and 8.
The suspects' vehicle is described as a red sedan, possibly a Pontiac Grand Prix. The female suspect appears to be wearing light blue and black hospital scrubs during the thefts. The male suspect is possibly in his late 40's. A third suspect -- driver of the vehicle -- is described as a bald black male.
Anyone with any information on the identity of the suspects is urged to contact Detective Todd Gustke at 248-680-7283 or the Troy Police Anonymous Tip Line at 248-524-0777.
