Police Searching For Suspect Who Robbed, Shot At 25-Year-Old Victim

DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Detroit Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying and finding a suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery.

Just after 5 a.m. on October 9, a 25-year-old male victim was leaving the CVS store near W. McNichols and Ilene when he was approached by a male suspect driving a white, late-model Jeep Compass who demanded money at gunpoint.

The victim complied, but managed to grab and push the suspect's gun aside, striking the suspect, then ran away southbound on Ilene. As the victim ran away, the suspect backed up in his vehicle and fired several shots. Luckily, none of the bullets struck the victim.

A cell phone, debit card and an undisclosed amount of money were stolen. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as black male, 5-foot-8, 180 to 200 pounds, with a light complexion, wearing a black baseball cap with a white "P" on it. He was also wearing a black t-shirt with gold lettering spelled out "World Class" in yellow writing and black pants.

The suspect and his vehicle were captured on CVS security cameras just prior to the robbery.

If anyone has any information about the crime, or know of the suspect's location, please call Detroit Police's Criminal Investigations Unit at 313-596-1616. Citizens can remain anonymous by leaving a tip on the DPD Connect app or by contacting Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
