Police Search For Would-Be Robber Who Sliced Man Outside Meijer Store

CANTON (WWJ) - Police are searching for a suspect who cut a man outside of a local Meijer store during an armed robbery attempt.

The incident happened just before 8 p.m. Tuesday outside of the Meijer on Ford Road in Canton, west of I-275.

According to police, a 23-year-old Meijer employee  was on a break outside near the east end of the store when the suspect approached him and asked for a cigarette.

As the victim was reaching for his cigarettes, the suspect reportedly put a knife to the victim's throat and demanded his money. The victim was able to break free and run away, but not before being cut on his face by the suspect, who then fled the scene.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Police have released a composite sketch in hopes of identifying the suspect. He is described as a white male, approximately 5'11" to 6'2" tall with a thin build, blondish hair and light brown eyes.
