Police Respond To 'Bomb Scare' At Detroit Charter School

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police responded to a public charter school on the city's east side that had apparently been targeted by a bomb threat.

The situation unfolded around 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Oakland International Academy on Conant Street, near the Detroit-Hamtramck border.

Officials say they responded to the school after receiving a report about someone walking into the location with a bomb.

Fire crews and EMS units are standing by, police said, but students and staff were not evacuated from the building.

Investigators searched the building but didn't find anything. An investigation is ongoing.
